Bantama Assembly Members Honour Asenso-Boakye
Member of Parliament (MP) for Bantama Constituency, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye, received a special honour from the Assembly Members of the Bantama Sub-Metro of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).
The recognition, bestowed by the Assembly Members representing eight electoral areas of the Sub-Metro, commends the remarkable development that Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye has brought to the Bantama Constituency during his tenure as Member of Parliament.
During the ceremony, the Assembly Members presented a citation of honour to the MP. They praised Mr. Asenso-Boakye for his outstanding performance in just three years, surpassing the accomplishments of any previous Member of Parliament in the constituency during the 4th Republic.
The Assembly Members highlighted several significant achievements, including the construction and paving of major roads, the establishment of multiple AstroTurf Football Pitches, scholarships for needy students, the provision of industrial machines for various trades, donations of ambulances and vehicles to health facilities and the NHIS, the construction of police stations, distribution of dual desks to schools, and provision of Water Tanks for schools.
He was also instrumental in the establishment of community libraries, organization of mock exams for prospective BECE candidates, support for youth startup businesses, assistance for youth to gain admission to higher institutions of learning, and active involvement in recruiting individuals into the police, army, immigration, fire service, and other security services.
The Assembly Members further expressed gratitude for Hon. Asenso-Boakye’s lobbying efforts to secure the construction of the Atafoa bridge, which had posed flooding risks and caused fatalities over the years.
Chairman of the Bantama Sub-Metro, Hon. Francis Amoako, conveyed the collective sentiment, stating, “From the time of Hon. Richard Anane until now, we have not seen any MP who has brought us, the people of Bantama, this kind of development as Hon. Asenso-Boakye has brought to us within this short period of his tenure. We all have to support him to do more for us.”
He added that while appreciating the progress, they also hoped that Hon. Asenso-Boakye would continue to use his lobbying skills to address other challenges in the constituency.
“But as Oliver Twist would do, we are asking that he keeps his lobbying skills well ignited to help solve the other challenges we have in the constituency, and we are very sure he shall do them.”
In response, Hon. Francis Asenso-Boakye expressed his gratitude for the gesture, which motivates him to further serve his constituents. He thanked the Assembly Members for recognizing what he humbly referred to as his “modest contributions” to Bantama’s development.
Mr. Asenso-Boakye encouraged all Ghanaians to understand that the growth and progress of the country are shared responsibilities. He emphasized the importance of honest tax payment and urged Ghanaians to support the government’s efforts for the nation’s development, emphasizing that tax revenues play a crucial role in achieving progress, much like in developed nations like Europe.
”The development we see in places like the Europe has been achieved through the payment of taxes. I pray we Ghanaians to support government with honest payment of our taxes. Now, when the people pay their taxes, all hands that have part to play in putting them into the best use for the growth of the country, must do so.”
