Assembly Member: Government Officials Are Not Authorized To Fight Buildings On Waterways

The Assembly Member of Amakom Electoral area, Hon. Stephen Ofori, has stated that Government officials are not authorized to fight building sited on waterways.
According to him, flooding cannot be attributed to the small sizes of gutters rather where and how our houses are built.
Speaking on Opemsuo Radio’s Morning show Nkwantananso, the Assembly Member disclosed that Chiefs can be blamed for the increased flooding in the communities.
In other countries, Government is in charge of Land related issues.
“Our country is different, chiefs are solely in charge hence Government officials have no authority to stop building at unauthorized places especially waterways” he added.
“To the best of knowledge, there should be a law that buildings should be some meters away from water bodies. This will help bring a positive development” the Assembly Member added.
