Ashanti Region: 11, 000 Vaccinated In 4 Days

The Ashanti Regional Health Director, Dr. Emmanuel Tenkorang has indicated that close to 11,000 persons have received their dose of the Johnson and Johnson (J&J) Vaccine.
The inoculation exercise with the J&J vaccine began in the Ashanti Region on Friday, August 13, 2021 after a total of 50, 400 doses arrived in the Region.
177,600 doses of J&J single shot vaccine arrived at the port of Ghana on August 8, 2021, through the initiative of the African Union.
Speaking at a press conference, the Regional Health Director said the vaccination exercise is taking place at the various hotspots of the Region which include; Kumasi Metro, Kwadaso, Oforikrom and Asokwa Municipalities.
“Johnson and Johnson vaccine arrived not quite long ago. The Ashanti Region was given 50, 400 doses. The vaccination started on Friday August 13 and we have four districts, Asokwa, Kwadaso, Kumasi Metro and Oforikrom. As at today, we have immunized close to 11,000 people”, he noted.
He also announced that second doses are being administered on 2021 census enumerators with Sputnik V vaccines.
“We are also giving the second dose to those who were vaccinated some time ago with the Sputnik V vaccine for enumerators. We want to encourage them to come for their second dose”, he said
