Asantehene Commends Samira’s Unflinching Support to Bawumia
The King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has commended the Second Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Her Excellency Samira Bawumia for supporting her husband’s presidential ambition with her formidable force.
His Majesty recognizes her separate campaigns across the country in the bid to win more electorates for Dr Bawumia.
He expressed his delight at the role she had taken upon herself during a visit by the Second Lady to the Manhyia Palace as part of her campaign tour in the Ashanti Region for the rest of this week.
“A good wife gives peace to her husband. She is determined to help her husband and I thank her for that,” he said on October 9, 2024.
Objective
Samira was accompanied by a group of New Patriotic Party (NPP) executive members, Ashanti Regional Parliamentarians and Parliamentary candidates. Among them were the Regional Chairman of the party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, Member of Parliament for Bantama, Francis Asenso Boakye, Manhyia South Constituency Parliamentary Candidate, Nana Baffour Awuah and the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah.
In her address, she sought the blessings of the King in her endeavour and desired to see her husband succeed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the next President.
“Dr Bawumia who has been nurtured by Otumfuo is running as Flagbearer of the NPP. The direction Otumfuo has given him is what is propelling him to take over the baton from Nana Addo. He wants to be a blessing to Ghana thanks to the counsel offered him by his father. He has a lot in store for Ghana. He has women at heart. Fund for women in small-scale businesses. The unemployed youth after free SHS will be provided 1 million digital jobs.
“There are a lot. I am here to thank Otumfuo for his guidance. I came here today to seek the blessing of our lord…. The election is 2 months away. Asante is everywhere in Ghana. I know if our Lord blesses and pray for us, victory will be ours. We came here to plead with Otumfuo to remember us in his prayer. Bawumia indeed showed that Asante gave birth to him when he selected Napo as his Running mate.”
She also introduced the NPP’s Parliamentary candidate for Manhyia South, Nana Baffour Awuah to the King.
“Please pray for Lawyer as well who replaces Napo in the Parliamentary election.”
She added “I will be in Ashanti Region for this whole week. I came to seek permission and blessings so it ends well.”
Blessing
Otumfuo readily gave his blessings to the Second Lady, noting her restraint in her choice of words, much like her husband.
“I have made our lady and her husband a part of my family. Her husband has been here to introduce himself to me as the flagbearer. I told him to remain humble when he came. Since then I have monitored and haven’t heard anything untoward about him. The speech she just delivered has surprised me.”
“I have blessed her husband and I bless her too. Let her keep it up and the people will decide who they want in the election. We as traditional authorities are restricted from politics but that doesn’t stop us from expressing our views. That has been our role in this country. God bless her,” he added.
Like in his messages to all presidential aspirants, the King noted that God is the kingmaker.
“God makes king. Keep on propagating your message for Ghanaians to hear.”
