ASANTE PROFESSIONALS CLUB OUTDOORS TWO (2) PROJECTS AT MANHYIA PALACE, KUMASI

Asante Professionals Club (APC) has outdoored the Community Library project and the Bag pack project to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene. This was at a courtesy call to the Asantehene on Friday, 27th November 2020 at Manhyia Palace.

The APC Community Library Project seeks to establish library facilities in deprived communities in Ashanti region. Speaking at Manhyia Palace, Prince Edusei, the National President of APC said, “We acknowledge that most communities in Ashanti region have schools but may not have library for further studies. Looking at the importance of reading in the educational development of our children, APC has seen the need to provide library project to support the students in reading and research. The first beneficiary community for the library project is Juansa, Asante Akim North and we hope to complete in March 2020”

The library project will be able to accommodate 50 students at a sitting. It will be stocked with reading materials for basic and junior high school levels with computers and internet facilities to facilitate further research and learning. The project will also employ librarians to manage the facility. The library project is estimated to benefit 5000 students upon completion in 50 communities.

The bag pack project has presented 1,000 branded school bags to Manhyia Palace for onward distribution. The project, GHS 80,000 funded by APC USA Branch at a cost of GHS 80,000, is in celebration of the 70th birthday of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. Barbara Acheampong, USA Branch President, mentioned that, “Asantehene has demonstrated enormous leadership in the development of Asanteman through education and investments into the human capital of our children. The back packs presented today will go a long way to motivate our students in their education journey”

Otumfuo Osei Tutu expressed appreciation for the gesture by APC. He admonished the Club to further support him develop Asanteman through project-driven exploits. “APC has the needed mix of professionals from medicine, public service to private sector to come up with development projects for implementation at the last Asante Development Summit. I look forward to more project focus in implementing the concepts that were launched in the Asanteman Development Plan.” Asantehene added.

Other projects
The delegation also outlined other partnership projects which being developed for implementation with Babson College and Worcester State University. The partnership will support various educational and health infrastructural projects in Kumasi.

Established in 2015, the Club undertakes projects and programs in line with Otumfuo’s development agenda of Ashanti region.
