Akufo-Addo Receives GBA Lifetime Award

The Ghana Bar Association (GBA) has conferred on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo the first GBA Lifetime Award.

He was awarded the prestigious honour during the opening of the 2024/25 Conference of the GBA held in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region on Monday, September 9, 2024.

President Akufo-Addo, formerly the President of the Greater Accra Bar, is the first member of the General Council of the Bar to be elected President in Ghana.

Ahead of the presentation of the award, the President of the GBA, Yaw Acheampong Boafo profiled the 80-year-old saying, “In 1995, he filed to contest for the position of National President of the GBA, but withdrew his nomination due to his political involvement at the time.”

He noted that he has made himself present in all the General Meetings of the Association even after getting elected as President.

In his speech, Akufo-Addo expressed his gratitude for the award.

“Thank you for the award conferred on me. It is something I will cherish for a lifetime.”
