‘Agyenkwa’ Budget Battles For Life Today In Parliament

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has named the 2022 budget statement as ‘Agyenkwa’ budget, to wit, ‘the budget of Salvation’ but the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it’s ‘a killer budget’.

The parliament of Ghana has already started debating the budget Statement today.

Both the majority and the minority caucus of parliament will have their say on the submissions announced by the Finance Minister, Mr. Ken Ofori Atta during his appearance in Parliament on November 17, 2021.

Key among the policies of the Akufo-Addo led government captured in the 2022 budget statement is the introduction of E-levy, a policy the minority says it will boycott.

Meanwhile, the ruling party says the levy will aid Ghana in paying our debt within a matter of a few years.
