Accept E-levy Or Forfeit Free SHS; Ghanaians Told
The ruling government has hinted that Ghana risks losing the Free Senior High School it is enjoying if the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-levy) policy is not accepted.
This is according to the New Juaben South Member of Parliament, Michael Okyere Baafi.
Although the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta has assured that Ghana is not turning to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) at any point in time for support, Okyere Baafi said, the government will resort to the IMF for help which will in turn task the government to cancel the Free SHS policy.
“Let us all accept the E-levy. If not, the IMF will direct the president to cancel the free SHS policy. If that happens, your wards won’t be able to continue education at the secondary level”, Okyere Baafi said addressing congregants on the widely disapproved E-levy.
