Abronye “Lied” About Mahama Coup Plot; Police Investigation Establishes

The Accra Regional Police Command has established that the Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party(NPP), Mr Kwame Baffoe alias Abronye, cooked up the Mahama coup plot allegations.

The outspoken NPP member in an interview averred that the former president, John Dramani Mahama is conniving with Al-Qaeda to stage a coup against President Akufo-Addo.

But an update from the police pointed out that “preliminary investigation had established that his claims against the former president are untrue and likely to occasion a breach of peace”.

Therefore, he was formally arrested and charged on two counts of publication of false news and offensive conduct conducive to breach of the peace according to the statement from the police service.

Abronye will be arraigned in court today, Wednesday 16, 2022 following his arrest and detention yesterday, Tuesday, February 15 when he honoured a police invitation.
