Ablakwa In A State Of Dilemma Over Who To Give His 40% Pay Cut

Member of Parliament for North Tongu Constituency, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa says he is caught between a rock and a hard place over who to make a donee to his intended voluntary 40% pay cut.

The lawmaker said he is prepared to give-up up to forty percent of his salary in support of the country to mitigate economic hardships.

He is, however, divided as to who to make the donee to his pay cut.

“ I am torn between giving it to a govt that has proven over the years to lack frugality, and whether I shouldn’t rather be spending the cut on my constituency social initiatives”, part of his tweet read.

He therefore went on to seek advice from his followers.

“My dilemma: though I am convinced and determined to take a pay cut by as much as 40%, I am torn between giving it to a govt that has proven over the years to lack frugality, and whether I shouldn’t rather be spending the cut on my constituency social initiatives.
Your advice pls?”

The legislator announced on Tuesday that he had given out his entire two-month salary as MP to his constituency’s National Service District Office to allocate to 87 National Service Scheme (NSS) personnel posted to his constituency.

His donation, he said, was to cushion the personnel from the impact of their two-month delayed allowances.
