A/R Minister begs Road Contractor ahead of December 7 Polls

The Akufo-Addo government is on it knees begging some road contractors in the Ashanti Region, the stronghold of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) to speed up works on major roads awarded for construction before the December 7 polls.
According to Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah, pressure from residents of Atonsu, Aputuogya, Kuntenase and other surrounding communities to fix road networks in their areas are unbearable to him therefore appealing to Kofi Job Construction firm to speed up work and complete the project.
The Minister while speaking on a local radio station Opemsuo.com monitored recounted tough times some aggrieved residents who are unhappy about the dusty nature of the road complained to him. Aputuogya -Kuntenase road network near Kumasi in the Bosomtwe District is giving him sleepless nights as head of government business in the region.
“I have had a series of engagements with the contractor for him to come back on-site and complete the project but all efforts have failed since the contractor has remained adamant’’, Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah revealed following several concerns raised by some traditional rulers in the area
Meanwhile, checks by the reporter has it that the workers of the construction firm moved from site early this year due to lack of funds.
The anxious Regional Minister therefore explained that he and other Executives of the ruling NPP in the region cannot be blamed for the delay of the project since they have done their best to ensure full completion.
”Residents and commuters are pointing accusing fingers at me, the sitting MP and the Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman for doing little to get the road completed. As we speak, I am not a happy man, since, a lot of pressure and attacks are on me for neglecting the plight of my own people”, Mr. Simon Osei-Mensah, the immediate past lawmaker for the area stated.
