Gov’t To Launch Campaign In Wake Of Potential Terrorism

The Ministry of National Security is scheduled to launch the “See Something, Say Something Campaign”, meant to fight against the risk of potential terrorist attacks in the country.

The campaign will be launched on Tuesday, May 24, 2022.

This was announced by the National Security Coordinator, Edward Kweku Asomani during a presser organised by the Ministry of Information on Sunday may 22, 2022.

By the campaign, Ghanaians are advised to report any suspicious activities they spot around them to the police or persons in authority, Kweku Asomani said.

“You need to help the security and intelligence agencies, you need to report any suspicious activity that you see.”

He also pointed out that the call for the help of the citizenry is not out of panic on the part of the Ministry; rather, he said, “we are on top of the situation but we need the help of everybody in our jurisdiction”.

With the campaign, he assured that callers would not be required to identify themselves.

Running concurrently on the same day as the campaign launch are mass media campaign, public education drive and direct engagements with various groups in the country to reduce the risk of terrorism the country is facing.

“From Tuesday three different things will be happening. There is a mass media campaign starting on Tuesday. There will also be a series of public education exercises in various parts of the country. The Information Service Department and a number of agencies at the local level. The Ministry and some of its agencies will be doing some direct engagement with some identifiable groups to reduce the risk that we face”, the Minister for information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said.
