Asantehene At 23: Asiedu Nketia Praises Otumfuo For Showing True Commitment To Non-Partisan Politics.
General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia has rained praises on the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for showing true commitment to Non-Partisan politics as a king.
According to him, Otumfuo has been exceptional as a king on the Golden Stool for 23 years, without all these years obliging to partisan politics.
Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia stated that, he and three other people found it imperative to reserve traditional rulers from partisan politics as at the time of drafting the 1992 Republican Constitution of Ghana, and His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has shown true exhibition of a non-partisan king which has helped Ghana as a country in many ways.
This has urged him to dispense justice on fair grounds and whenever it becomes needful to intervene in national affairs, he does so easily, he added.
He said, this is a true emulation for other chiefs who openly engages in partisan politics and feel the part of the constitution deprives them of their political rights.
The NDC General Secretary went on to say that, non-partisan politics has aided Otumfuo to give his directives, suggestions, and advice, to both ruling government and those in opposition.
He concluded that, non-partisan politics by traditional rulers make their views on national issues undiluted and neutral which will help Ghana in the long run and this is exactly what Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has demonstrated.
