Dying In Ramadan Shows My Mother Was Godly: Aliu Maham’s Son Observes
Member of Parliament for Yendi constituency, Farouk Aliu Mahama has observed that his mother, the former Second Lady of Ghana, Ramatu Mahama was a godly woman due to her death in the month of Ramadan.
“I know my mom is in heaven. Today the rains spoke and in the book of the Quran when you die in the month of Ramadan especially being the first Friday, it tells you that my mom was a godly woman and I’m not really worried, I’m just happy that she has been laid to rest, he said looking visibly distressed by the death.
He disclosed that her mother had been on a sickbed for the past eighteen months.
“She has suffered a lot. One year and six months in bed are not easy but we give everything to Almighty Allah. We will all go one day but we feel sad that we don’t have a mother anymore but we have Allah and Allah will take care of us”, he said addressing the media.
He recalled the last time he saw a smile on Hajia Ramatu’s face, after which has been agony until her demise.
“My mom’s wish and prayer for me and all my other siblings were to see us successful, especially myself, having been named after her late father who was the Minister for Trade and the first chairman of COCOBOD. My mom wanted to see me succeed.
“The last time I saw the joy in my mom’s face was when I was declared winner as the parliamentary candidate for Yendi and eventually became a member of Parliament for Yendi. Immediately we were sworn in as Members of Parliament, after two days, she was never herself until her demise”
To him, it is unfortunate that his mom couldn’t live to see his siblings and himself grow.
Hajia Ramatu Mahama died on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at the age of 70.
