NDC Charged To Sabotage E-levy To Call For Hardship And Secure 2024 For The Party

A leaked memo of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), intercepted by opemsuo.com, charges its communication team and MPs to frustrate the government’s efforts at implementing the Electronic Transactions Levy (E-levy) “in its current form or any other form”.

The Members of Parliament (MPs) are specifically directed to resist the passage of the E-levy bill “by all means”, meanwhile, the communication team is to propagate that E-levy will plunge the country into hardship, according to the memo.

They are to propagate this through radio and television interviews nationwide, articles on print, and News Websites.

The NDC National Executive Committee (NEC) on their part, will assist the Parliamentary Group to “hold town hall meetings, radio interviews and other public events aimed at causing public dissatisfaction for the bill”, the memo said.

“A successful execution of these resolutions will undermine the Government’s efforts and force the Government to go to the IMF. A situation that will inure to our benefit and ensure the success of “Agenda 2024”, the memo pointed out.

According to the memo signed by the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the resolutions were forged at the joint meeting between the National Executive Council Committee (NEC), Function Executive Committee(FEC), and the Party’s Parliamentary Group which was attended by H. E. John Dramani Manama in January 2022 in Ada.

The memo was addressed to members of the National Executive Council Committee (NEC), members of the Function Executive Committee(FEC), and the Party’s Parliamentary Group, regional chairmen, and secretaries.
