Tamale, Takoradi Waste Plants To Be Operationalized In 2022-JOSPONG CEO

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the JOSPONG Group of Companies, Mr. Joseph Siaw Agyapong has disclosed that water waste treatment plants in the capitals of Western and Northern regions will become operational in 2022.

“This is one of the Hungarian treatment plants. Others are underway in Tamale and Takoradi. By August 2022, the plants will become operational”, he said during an interaction with the media.

He disclosed this, when together with Hungarian Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Istvan Jakab inspected the Kumasi-based treatment plant at Esreso Adagya in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti region.

Mr. Siaw Agyapong noted that over 60 jobs have been created since the Kumasi plant began operating with between 70 and 80 trucks being treated daily.

He added that the progress of the plant is encouraging.

The plant in Kumasi was commissioned in May 2020 by the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaa, after His Excellency Otumfuo Osei Tutu II handed some squares of land to the government of Ghana and Hungary for the project.

The 20 million Euro plant is situated on 22,000 square meters of land.

The state-of-the-art facility can receive and treat 150 cesspit tanks of liquid waste trucks per day.

It is a collaboration between the government of Ghana, Hungary, and the Jospong Group of companies and their partners, PURECO, Atinkaonline reported.
