E-Levy: Akufo-Addo’s NPP Is The Laziest In History

The Member of Parliament for Sagnerigu Constituency, Hon. Alhaji Alhassan Bashiru Alhassan Fuseini’s (A.B.A. Fuseini), has described the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led NPP government as one of the laziest and most insensitive in the history of this country.

The NDC MP comments come in the wake of the government’s decision to impose the Electronic Transactions Levy otherwise known as the E-Levy as contained in the 2022 Budget and Financial Policy presented by Ken Ofori Atta, the Finance Minister.

In an interview with George Opoku Mensah on Opemsuo Radio on Thursday, November 2021 after the budget presentation, he stated that “President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia promised to move the country from taxation to production but it is quite disappointing to know that they are doing otherwise”.

The Ranking Member on Parliamentary select Committee on Communication said the people of Ghana are already burdened with numerous taxes and he expected that the 2022 Budget and Financial Policy would reduce taxes. Surprisingly he said his expectations were shot down with the introduction of the E-Levy.

He expressed his anger on the closure of the Tollbooth and chastised the government for willfully causing financial loss to the state in the sense that the government recently renovated some toll booths in the country only to close it down permanently some few months after renovation.
