A vigorous campaign developed to increase IGF – Oforikrom MCE
The Municipal Chief Executive of Oforikrom Municipal Assembly in the Ashanti Region, Hon. Kwame Antwi has revealed that the assembly is developing a vigorous campaign to increase the internally generated fund (IGF).
“IGF should be collected easily but that isn’t the issue in Ghana”.
“The collection of revenue at the local level is backed by laws and anyone who fails to pay can be sent to court”, he said.
In an interview on Opemsuo radio’s Morning show Nkwantananso on Friday, November 12th, 2021, the Municipal Chief executive explained that before an Assembly will be able to collect its revenue, there should be accurate and updated data.
“After getting the data, basic technology like a system of payment should be used. People who will be contributing to the internally generated fund should be engaged and educated since the majorities are ignorant, he added.
The MCE went on to say that Business owners, Landlords, Associations, Religious leaders need to be aware of their responsibilities towards the development of the Assembly.
“After that, the revenue generated should be used in developing the assembly and that’s what I intend to do”, he assured.
