The Accra Metropolitan Assembly presidential nominee, Elizabeth Kwatseo Tawia Sackey has received 100% confirmation from the Assembly Members.

Elizabeth’s nomination received much opposition ahead of the announcement of Metropolitan, Municipal, and Chief Executive Officers on Saturday, October 8, 2021. Some youths mounted roadblocks at Jamestown to register their dissatisfaction.

However, during the election today, 30 Assembly Members voted, and all, in confirmation of the new MCE in place of Mohammed Nii Adjei Sowah.

In a speech after her overwhelming confirmation, Mrs. Sackey called for collaboration in the development of the country’s capital.

“This is a clarion call for all to come on board so that we can achieve our goals. To my Assembly Members and the staff of the assembly that I will be working with, I will need your unflinching support.

“ ‘Uneasy’, they say, “is the head that wears the crown”. With a strong neck to support the head, the crown will be very light”, she said.
