I Can Revive The Komenda Sugar Factory – John Dumelo

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for Ayawaso West Wougon Constituency in the 2020 elections, John Dumelo has indicated that he can revive the Komenda Sugar Factory.
The Komenda Sugar Factory built at a cost of $36 million from an Indian EXIM Bank facility, was inaugurated by then President John Mahama in May 2016, amid pomp and pageantry but was shut down after a few test runs.
“I can revive the Komenda sugar factory if given the mandate. That factory will start producing sugar within 16 months( considering planting and harvesting of sugarcane). The factory needs about 200,000 tons of sugarcane(pa) to operate at full capacity. We can do it,” John Dumelo passionately said in his Twitter post on Thursday, August 19, 2021.
 

 
“I have instructed the transaction advisor to ensure that the condition precedent to the concession agreement and the roadmap for the opening of the factory is finalized by the end of August 2021 to enable operational activities at the factory to commence before the end of the year,” Alan Kyerematen told Parliament on July 22, 2021.
Promises to revive the factory have not materialized. Ghanaians have expressed their worries over the abandoned factory as many are yearning to be employed once the factory is reopened.
