Working To Bridge The Gap Between Urban And Rural Education: Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation Storms Bedabour

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Foundation has stormed Bedabour, a community in the Atwima Mponua District, to commence a 12-day mobile learning project yesterday.

The project, dubbed; “Working To Bridge The Gap Between Urban And Rural Education” aims to provide children in the rural areas with an incredible platform that will aid them to experience whatever goes on in the classroom of those in the urban areas.

The heartwarming project encompasses practical ICT lessons, Reading lessons and Cinema for the less privileged children in the vicinity. The Foundation will also organise free Dental Screening for the entire community.

The introduction of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) as a subject in Ghana has not favoured those in the rural areas due to lack of practical experience, and most children in these areas, always fall short during their BECE Examination.

Again, most of the children, due to lack of practical experience even fear to touch the mouse and other parts of the computer when there is an opportunity for them after Junior High school education.

And this has necessitated this move by the Overlord of the Asante Kingdom, His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, even in the period of COVID-19 pandemic to arrest the situation by providing a platform where these less privileged children will also have access to computer.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has taken keen interest in education ever since he ascended as the Asantehene through the Otumfuo Education Fund which has been a game-changer in his transformation agenda.
