COVID-19: No funds to evacuate Ghanains abroad home – Foreign Affairs Committee

It has emerged that the Government of Ghana has no enough funds to evacuate it nationals locked up outside the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic contray to media reportage plans are underway to airlift them home.
“Government cannot do that because of funds”, Vice Chairman of the Parlimentary Select Committee on Foreign Affairs, Hon. Kwaku Owusu Ampratwum revealed on Opemsuo FM during a telephone conversation monitored.
According to him, contrary to earlier reportage, no decision so far has been reached by the government to airlift Ghanaian nationals back home and that could be done when it becomes so necessary to do so.
“We are only thinking about it. We are not saying they are going to be airlifted at the cost of the government”, the Vice Chair of the Committee who doubles as the lawmaker for Mampong Constituency in the Ashanti Region told host, George Opoku Mensah.
