Galamsey: Two More Chinese Arrested Along River Bonsa Bank

Two foreign nationals have been arrested in connection with illegal mining activities along the River Bonsa bank.

The Chinese have been identified as Huan Ciongjian, 38, and Ling Yong, 56.

This brings the number of Chinese arrested in connection with the illegality along the river bank to six.

“Two more Chinese nationals, Huan Ciongjian (38) and Ling Yong (56) were arrested for illegal mining along the Bonsa river banks,” the police confirmed in a statement.

It noted that all foreign nationals arrested had been handed over to the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).

Last week, the police arrested four Chinese alongside seven Ghanaians for mining along the bank.

The Ghanaian suspects were arraigned before the Special Court for Illegal Mining at Sekondi and charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and undertaking mining activities without a licence.

The court remanded them into prison custody to reappear on April 17, 2025.

The accused are Ibrahim Dauda, Michael Tettey Komlorm, Douglas Ayambila, Elvis Aborta, Nsoh Oto, Kwadwo George, and Emmanuel Van.
