Expect True State of the Economy in 2025 Budget- Mahama

According to President John Dramani Mahama, Ghanaians will soon realise the full extent of the devastation in which the Akufo-Addo government left the country’s economy.

Delivering the State of the Nation Address (SONA) on February 27, 2025, he said it will be clearly projected in the 2025 budget statement and economic policy as well as at the national economic dialogue.

“These two events will allow us to present the real state of Ghana’s economic crisis to the people. Mr Speaker, it is not my style to lament and shift blame when confronted with challenges. My approach is to accept challenges and work harder to resolve them.

“Indeed this is precisely what the people of Ghana elected me to do. I have therefore not come here to lament the state of our country. Though there is much to lament about, I understand why I was elected with such high voter confidence and that is to solve Ghana’s problems.”

The President therefore took a vow to fix the country’s multifaceted problems, particularly with the economy as he is determined to transform the fortunes of the country and reset it on a path of development by the end of his tenure in 2029.

“Today, inspired by the Almighty God and propelled by the massive mandate given to me by the people of Ghana, I am moved to make a similar purposeful and bold declaration that I, John Dramani Mahama, will fix the economic crisis confronting our country and reset it on a path of growth and prosperity,” he said as part of the State of the Nations Adress (SONA) delivered on February 27, 2025.

He emphasized his government has already developed a plan for that.

While the dialogue will be held on March 3 and 4, the budget will be presented on March 11, by the Minister of Finance.
