Mahama Charges His Appointees to Declare Assets
President John Dramani Mahama has charged his appointees to take the needed steps to declare their assets.
He gave the charge during the swearing-in ceremony of six approved appointees to serve in his government on January 22, 2025, at the Jubilee House.
“I expect all of you to begin the process of declaring your assets,” he said.
The President in his remarks noted that a deadline will be issued by the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah for the submission.
“The Chief of Staff will announce the cutoff date by which time all eligible appointees should have deposited their assets declaration forms with the Auditor General. I wish all of you good luck in your duties, and I pledge to work with you in the future.”
In its New Year message, the Commission on Human Rights Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) charged public officers to as a matter of urgency declare their assets in compliance with Article 284 of the Code of Conduct for Public Officers.
The code enjoins public officials to submit to the Auditor-General a written declaration of all properties or assets owned by, or liabilities owed by, them directly or indirectly within three months after the coming into force of this Constitution or before taking office.
This must be done at the end of every four years and at the end of their term of office.
