A/R: Over 300 NDC Activists in Keen Contest for 43 MMDCE Slots
A total of 324 applications have been received by the Ashanti Regional office of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the position of Chief Executive Officers of the 43 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies.
This follows the opening of applications by the party for interested individuals, pursuant to the termination of appointments of MMDCEs by the previous government, under the new John Mahama administration, leaving the seats vacant.
While some assemblies recorded low interest, others saw significant interest, with a very high number of applications.
The Atwima Nwabiagya North Municipal Assembly received the highest number, with 16 applications, followed by Ejura Sekyedumasi with 14 applications. They are followed by Offinso South and Asokore Mampong, which each received 13 applications, while Ejisu, Ahafo Ano South East, and Bekwai had 12 applications each.
Obuasi West District Assembly had the lowest number, with two applications.
Applicants are directed to take turns to appear before the Vetting Committee from Thursday, 16th to Sunday, 19th January 2025, at the party’s regional head office in Kumasi.
A letter signed by the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, informed “all applicants who have submitted their nominations for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executive (MMDCE) positions within the region that interviews will be conducted as per the schedule”.
Applicants are further “advised to take note of their respective interview dates and adhere strictly to the guidelines provided earlier”.
