EC To Conduct Series of Pressers on December 7
The Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled five press briefings for Saturday, December 7, 2024, when the country goes to the polls to elect a new President and Members of Parliament.
These briefings, it said, would be used to provide public updates on the Elections and dispel misinformation and various reports.
The first for the day will be held at 9 am, the second at noon, the third at 3:00 pm, and then at 6:00 pm. The Commission will have the last presser at 9:00 pm.
Each of these is not expected to exceed 30 minutes, according to a press statement issued by the EC and can be covered by media personnel accredited to report from the National Collation Centre.
“The Commission will also use the Media Briefings to respond to any stories and reports from around the country.”
The media has thus been urged to make the most out of the briefing to curtail misinformation.
“The Commission therefore urges the Media and the General Public to verify any reports on the elections with the Commission to avoid sharing unverified stories on their platforms.”
It further assured Ghanaians of its commitment to deliver fair, transparent, credible, and peaceful elections and to working hand in hand with the media.
