45 New Dialysis Machines Secured by Gov’t
The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has announced that 45 dialysis machines have been secured to augment the nationwide free dialysis services initiative which took effect on December 1, 2024.
In a press statement, the NHIA said these machines were secured through a partnership with the World Bank.
Of the 45 dialysis machines, it said seven have already been delivered while 23 are currently being cleared.
Meanwhile, it said 15 additional machines have been ordered.
“Each batch of 15 machines comes with 2,000 sets of consumables, totalling 6,000 sets for the entire 45 machines. More of such facilities will be procured in the coming years to ensure continued service delivery to patients.”
Twenty out of 40 NHIA-credentialed facilities have already started rendering the services at no cost.
They are Hart Adventist Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Firstcare Hospital, Holy Family Hospital, Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Eastern Regional Hospital, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, 37 Military Hospital, Accra Newtown Islamic Hospital, Ghana Police Hospital, Trust Hospital Premium Centre, Ridge Regional, International Maritime Hospital, Tamale Teaching Hospital, Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, Ho teaching Hospital, Volta Regional Hospital, Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital and Takoradi Hospital.
