Police Officer Interdicted For Assault
The Ghana Police Service has announced the interdiction of a police officer spotted in a viral video assaulting a man.
Identified as Detective Corporal Baba Amando Ibrahim, he is stationed at the Tuna Police Station in the Savannah Region.
The Service characterized his actions as “professional misconduct” in a press statement issued over the development on November 22, 2024.
“The Ghana Police Service has interdicted with immediate effect Detective Corporal Baba Amando Ibrahim, stationed at Tuna Police Station in the Savannah Region, for professional misconduct.
“The Police officer was sighted in a viral video assaulting a member of the public.”
According to the statement, his interdiction will pave the way for a thorough investigation into his conduct in line with Police Service Regulations.
Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr George Akufo Dampare has reached out to the family of the victim and offered assurance of support.
The police boss has further directed the Savannah Regional Police Commander to work with the family in this regard.
