New KNUST Pro VC Introduced to Asantehene

The Governing Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has introduced Prof David Asamoah to Otumfuo Osei Tutu II as the new Pro Vice Chancellor.

He was elected by senior members of the university in September to succeed Prof Ellis Owusu-Dabo.

Introducing him to the King at the Manhyia Palace on November 20, 2024, during the last Awukudae Festival of the year, the Chairman of the Council, Justice Anin Yeboah said, “We came here to pay homage and introduce our new Pro VC to our Chancellor.”

58th Congregation
In addition, he informed His Majesty about the commencement of the 58th Congregation of the institution.

“We started the congregation today and it will carry through to November 30 when the Chancellor will be required to attend to award certificates to PhD graduands.”

Welcome

Otumfuo welcomed the new addition to the University Council and urged the members to facilitate his integration.

“The Chairman of the Council is a former Chief Justice of the country. He is quite a dignified figure in this country but he decided to serve me by helping in the administration of the university. Also, in the past four years, the Vice Chancellor, first woman to occupy the post, has been incredible. Augment their work with your expertise and knowledge as you have joined.”

Prof David was also counselled to stay focused in humility and respect to the leadership.

His Majesty further assured them of his presence at the Congregation when the time is due.
