Kumasi: SG Mall Officially Opened
Kumasi’s top shopping and entertainment centre, Semanhyia Golden Mall, widely known as SG Mall, located at Ayigya near KNUST, was officially opened for business activities by Ayigyahemaa, Oheneyere Akosua Serwaa Oheneafrewo, on Friday, November 8.
The opening ceremony of the business and entertainment centre was graced by traditional authorities, clergy, business moguls, politicians and actors and actresses.
Speaking to attendees, Ayigyahemaa, who chaired the programme, expressed profound gratitude to the Chief Executive Officer of SG Mall, Mr. John Kofi Akortsin Arhin, affectionately known as Nana Se-Manhyia, for establishing the multipurpose business centre in her territory.
According to her, SG Mall has positively contributed to the development of the Ayigya community and Kumasi as a whole.
“SG Mall has positively contributed to the development of the Ayigya community.”
Ayigyahemaa emphasized that they have witnessed a significant improvement in economic activities as a result of SG Mall’s establishment.
Her Royal Highness, Oheneyere Akosua Serwaa Oheneafrewo, is optimistic that the establishment of SG Mall will inspire other entrepreneurs to emulate Nana Se-Manhyia and provide job opportunities for the teeming youth.
She described SG Mall as a “very hospitable” location and urged all people to enjoy themselves at the facility.
“This mall is a very hospitable location,” she emphasized.
On his part, the Chief Executive Officer of the Semanhyia Golden Mall (SG Mall), Mr. John Kofi Akortsin Arhin,revealed the rationale behind SG Mall’s set-up.
According to Nana Se-Manhyia, the initial plan was to build a hotel, apartments, and offices, but it evolved into a mall after he realised that KNUST students often travelled to Kumasi Mall, despite Ayigya’s proximity to KNUST.
“I initially planned to build a hotel,” he revealed.
He noted that, after consultation, he saw the need to transform the building into a multipurpose shopping mall to serve the people of Ayigya, surrounding communities, and the nation as a whole.
Regarding job creation, Nana Se-Manhyia disclosed that his organisation has recruited nearly three hundred workers.
“I have recruited close to three hundred workers,” he stressed.
The business mogul described the mall as a multipurpose facility that includes a hotel, police station, clinic, over fifty-five shops, cinemas, restaurants, bars, a kids’ zone, swimming pools, and event spaces.
“The facility contains everything.”
To ensure the mall’s sustainability, Nana Se-Manhyia urged everyone to actively patronize their services, promoting local interest and projecting the facility to the world.
