Manchester United Appoint Ruben Amorim as Head Coach
Manchester United have replaced Erik ten Hag with Ruben Amorim. This was announced in a press statement on November 1, 2024.
“Manchester United is delighted to announce the appointment of Ruben Amorim as Head Coach of the men’s first team, subject to work visa requirements.”
His appointment runs until June 2027 with a club option of an additional year.
The 39-year-old Portuguese is expected to join Manchester United on Monday, November 11.
In their statement, Old Trafford characterized him as one of the most exciting and highly rated young coaches in European football.
“Highly decorated as both a player and coach, his titles include winning the Primeira Liga twice in Portugal with Sporting CP; the first of which was the club’s first title in 19 years.”
Until his work takes effect, interim coach Ruud van Nistelrooy will be in charge of the team.
Amorim takes over United at a time when it sits in 14th place with 11 points in the Premier League.
