2024 BECE School Placement: 81% Automatically Placed
The Ministry of Education has released the schools for the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates.
According to the Ministry, 553,155 out of the 563,339 whose results were released last week qualified for placement into the various Senior High Schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Institutions.
However, it noted 447,698, that is, 81% of them automatically got placed, with the rest required to undergo self-placement.
“104,918 qualified candidates could not be matched to any of their choices. Out of this number, 73,390 (13.27%) qualified candidates have been placed in schools similar to those they selected, and such students are at liberty to accept or reject the offer. Once a student rejects the recommended school, he/she can select a school of their choice from the Self-Placement platform,” it said in a press statement.
These candidates are to visit the Self-Placement platform to select a school of their choice and with the liberty to change their choice as many times as the candidate wishes until they enrol in a school, the GES announced.
It warned against the payment of any amount of money to get placed.
“The Computerised School Placement is merit-based, so parents and guardians are cautioned not to pay money to unscrupulous individuals who may approach them for placement into certain schools. Such persons are to be immediately reported to the Police or the Ministry.”
It added, “The public is hereby informed that in addition to the National Solution Centre at the GNAT Hall, Adabraka, Accra and ALL the 16 Regional Solution Centres, they can call our helpline on 0308258001 for all concerns.”
The freshers are expected to report to their respective schools for registration and orientation on October 30, 2024, and commence academic work by November 7, 2024.
