We Didn’t Say Revised Provisional Voters Register will be Released in a Week- EC

The Electoral Commission has corrected misinformation by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to the effect that it promised to make available the revised Provisional Voters Register to political parties within a week.

The said communication it referenced, emanates from the Functional Executive Committee of the NDC.

A statement issued by Samuel Tettey, the Deputy Chairman, Operations said the EC Chair, Jean Mensah gave a timeline of two weeks, not a week.

“For the records, the Chairperson of the EC indicated during the televised IPAC meeting that the Commission would provide the Political Parties with the revised PVR and upload it online within two (2) weeks or earlier. Nowhere in her statement did the Chairperson indicate that the revised PVR would be made available within a week.”

At a televised Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) meeting last week, the Electoral Commission was able to talk the NDC out of its demands for an audit of the country’s electoral roll after it assured the stakeholders that all discrepancies had been cleaned.

She also promised to make available to the political parties provisional copies of the cleaned roll.
