Why Asantehene Put Verdict on Boagyaa-Sabin Akrofrom Dispute on Hold

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II refused to deliver his verdict on the land dispute between Boagyaa and Sabin Akrofrom following the presentation of a Committee report on the case.

The report was presented by the Committee on Monday, September 30, 2024, to the Kumasi Traditional Council headed by his highly esteemed self.

The parties are disputing over the Kyekyewere and Bekwame boundary. Boagyaa claims some of its lands have been taken over by Sabin Akrofrom.

Per some evidence he submitted to the Committee, the town became desolate after residents joined the Asantehene for the Denkyira war years ago with most of them perishing along the way. According to him, this gave room for Sabin to take part of his lands.

After the presentation of the findings, it was realized that four of the five-member Committee sided with Boagyaa.

It was Yabihene Nana Kontomire Kwame Frimpong who held the dissenting view; however, his submission was not factored in the committee report.

The Committee in its report stated that Yabihene did not present his report on reasons for his stance, and thereby its omission.

Otumfuo on hearing this, did not give the opportunity for the individual verdicts of Nananom, neither did he deliver the final judgement as he justified that the report was incomplete without the Yabihene’s submission.

“Yabihene’s report must be heard before the final judgement. We will have to wait for it.”
