Enough is Enough Demo: Police Officer Injured in Kumasi

According to the Ghana Police Service, one police officer was injured during the “Enough is Enough Demo” of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday.

According to the police, the protest turned chaotic when the participants attempted to defy the agreed conditions and were resisted by the police.

“In Kumasi, contrary to the arrangements agreed between the Police and the organizers, the demonstrators attempted to push their way into the premises of the Electoral Commission and pelted the Police with stones,” a statement issued by the police said.

One officer sustained an injury in the process and was taken to a medical facility for treatment. The Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akufo Dampare has since reached out to him.

The police have also commenced investigations into the incident.

That notwithstanding, the IGP patted officers across the country for ensuring law and order during the demosntration.

“The Inspector-General of Police and the entire leadership of the Police Service would like to express their profound gratitude to all Police officers across the country for their continuous patriotic dedication and commitment to security, law and order in our beloved country.”
