The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has initiated investigations into the fire that engulfed an office on the second floor of Parliament’s Job 600 building on Tuesday morning.
It comes after personnel of the Service successfully extinguished the flames which caused damage to the office and some of its content.
“Investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing,” it said in a press statement.
It further relayed, “The fire which broke out in an office on the second floor of the Job 600 Block earlier this morning, caused partial damage to office documents and books. The gallant Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze with no injuries reported.”
The GNFS noted the fire was contained from spreading to other offices on the second floor.
The Greater Accra Regional Commander, ACFO 1 Roberta Aggrey Ghanson, said her office received information about the fire around 9:45 and responded at the scene in less than five minutes.
Speaking to journalists while the fire was being doused, she said, “What we are seeing is a fire that has engulfed one room. It is like a store room because we have some storage items there.”
