Asantehene Facilitates Election of Candidate for Sabronum Stool
The Sabronum Traditional Area will in no time witness the enstoolment of a new chief to succeed Dasebre Oguakuro Osei Bediako II- who is now late- thanks to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
It comes after the Asantehene facilitated the election of a candidate to ascend the stool during an Asanteman Council meeting on Monday, August 26, 2024.
This followed the destoolment of three traditional authorities in Sabronum including the Gyaasehene, Nana Awua Gyau Atuomi for their involvement in illegal mining after a petition by some residents and leaders of the town.
Otumfuo while addressing the Council over the matter disclosed Nana Atuomi was diligently working on enstooling one Osei Kwadwo- his preferred candidate- even at the expense of his nephew.
His nephew who was subsequently elected by the majority was one of the four persons who had shown interest in occupying the stool.
However, His Majesty noted that the Gyaasehene was willing to sideline him and bring in the one he knew would do his bidding and assist him carry out his illegal mining activities.
Following these revelations, the King called on each of the petitioners to vote for their preferred candidate. Six of them voted for Kofi Asante while two others voted respectively for Kwaku Poku and Kwame Kyere.
Kofi Asante, the preferred candidate, was summoned before the Council.
Otumfuo then ordered, “Enstool him immediately and present him before me.”
