Korle Bu Dialysis Centre Equipped with 30 New Machines
The Dialysis Centre at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital has been furnished with 30 new dialysis machines for the treatment of renal or kidney disease.
This was conveyed in a press statement released over the weekend by the Management of the facility in the Greater Accra Region.
It comes after incessant calls by patients for new machines as most of the machines had developed faults, making them inoperable.
To the joy of not just renal patients, the news was broken by the hospital as part of measures to enhance health care service delivery.
“To prevent future shortages, improve our service delivery and cost efficiency, the Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, has procured 30 additional dialysis machines with a year’s supply of consumables, for Korle Bu. The specifications of the new machines will allow us to access their essential consumables from the open market at competitive prices.”
This came after the Centre had been closed to outpatients, the second time this year, posing significant challenges to them.
In its statement, the hospital explained that delay in the clearance and delivery of delivery of consumables from the Tema Port had necessitated the closure.
