Lil Win’s ‘A Country Called Ghana’ Wins 3 Awards at IMO Film Festival

After bagging nominations in 11 categories at the Imo International Film Festival in Nigeria, Kwadwo Nkansah Lil Win’s ‘A Country Called Ghana’ won three of them at the event which took place over the weekend.

The movie grabbed nominations for Best Screenplay, Best Feature, Best Sound, Best Make-up, Best Production Design, Best Cinematography, Best Costume, and Best Director, among others.

It was successful in Best Actor (Ramsey Noah), Best Makeup and Production Design.

In a Facebook post, the actor congratulated his team for the hard work invested in his craft.

“I want to say a very big congratulations to each and everyone that played a role in this movie, from Weezy Empire, crew, cast etc and also Thank You to everyone that believed and supported this project…. God Bless You All.”

The movie, ‘A Country Called Ghana’, was directed by Frank Fiifi Ghabin with Nkansah as the executive director and features stars like Ramsey Nouah, Charles Awurum, and Victor Osuagwu, popularly known as Awilo Sharp Sharp, Paa George and Sweet Mimi.

This is yet another refreshing news for Lil Win, who recently found himself in deep trouble after his unregistered branded car, with which he was undertaking a regional tour promoting the premiere of the movie, killed a three-year-old boy.

The Kumawood star was arraigned at the Asokore Mampong District Court on June 3, 2024, and charged with dangerous driving, negligently causing harm and the use of an unregistered branded car.

He postponed subsequent movie premieres in other regions in memory of the three-year-old but announced recently that they will resume at the end of this month.

The Imo International Film Festival (ImoIFF) is a platform for films and filmmakers around the world to inspire the love for film, cinema, and the arts; and support independent filmmakers.

The festival is created to promote the local film industry both locally and internationally and to bring all the industry stakeholders together in a more focused and structured environment.
