Afenyo Markin Nominated ECG Board Chair
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has nominated the Member of Parliament for Effutu Constituency in the Central Region as the Board Chairman of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
The appointment comes after the former Board Chair, Herbert Krapah was nominated for the position of Minister of State at the *Energy* Ministry.
In a letter by the Secretary to the President, Nana Asante Bediatuo, to the Energy Minister, the new appointment was communicated.
“The President of the Republic has nominated Hon. Alexander Kwamena Arenyo-Markin (MP.), Member of Parliament for Effutu in the Central Region, as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (the ‘Company’).”
It added, “Kindly take the necessary steps to give effect to the President’s nomination in accordance with the Companies Act, 2019 (Act 992) and the Regulations of the Company.”
Meanwhile, following the appointment of Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the Vice Presidential Candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), he resigned as the Minister for Energy last week.
A Minister is yet to be nominated by the President for subsequent approval by Parliament.
