Meta Expands Features for Ghanaian Content Creators to Earn More
Ghanaian content creators will be earning more than they do on Facebook, Meta, the Parent company of Facebook, has communicated to the country’s Ministry of Information.
In a correspondence from the Public Policy Manager for Anglophone West Africa for Meta, Sade Dada, the Ministry was told about the monetization of its expanded features for content creators in Ghana.
According to a press statement from the Ministry explaining the new feature, creators will also have the option to earn a share of the revenue from Facebook’s in-stream ads, thus, when Meta places ads next to their content.
“The app developer intends to roll out ads on reels which also seeks to earn a share of revenue for creators from ads it places on their reels on Facebook with further plans to expand its monetization features on Instagram later this year.
“Content creators must pass and comply with Meta Partner Monetization and Content Monetization Policies. These policies include deeper restrictions than the community standards on the content itself and the format of presentation.”
Meanwhile, it said advertisers are also required to follow Meta’s advertising standards designed to protect users from poor experiences and support meaningful connections between people and businesses across its technologies.
The Minister for Information, Fatimatu Abubakar called the news a “significant milestone”, stating it will create new opportunities for our talented creators and support the growth of Ghana’s digital economy.
“The monetization of content in Ghana is to empower content creators to earn money locally from their online content and access advanced features to manage businesses online. The expansion of the monetization tools is a significant milestone that will help content creators in Ghana to leverage their online presence and build their brands.”
She also disclosed efforts are underway to facilitate further engagement between Meta and the New Media Association of Ghana to explore more opportunities.
“The Ministry looks forward to continued collaboration to promote digital innovation and entrepreneurship in Ghana,” she added.
