Otumfuo Acknowledges Role of Commercial Drivers in Development
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has acknowledged the underrated contribution of commercial drivers towards the development of the country.
His Majesty recognized their activities as a pivot in the country, ensuring goods and services are conveyed across when the Regional Executives of the Progressive Transport Owners’ Association (PROTOA) called on him at the Manhyia Palace on May 17, 2024, to congratulate Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on his 25th Enstoolment Anniversary.
The delegation was led by Mr Joseph Mensah, the Regional Chairman, Mr Kofi Tieku, the Regional Organiser and Mr Stephen Adae, the Regional Treasurer.
The group during the meeting announced to the King a new attribute they have coined for him in the local dialect mirroring the Monarch’s compassion for all men- “Nyankopon Nsiananmu Ahunuanyankwa.”
In his remarks, Otumfuo highlighted the crucial contribution of drivers to the development of the country.
“Your occupation is very important to development. We are able to get goods across the country because of your work. All these are geared toward the country’s development. Though your work is not recognized as a primary element of development, it is. You create jobs.”
His Majesty urged the drivers association to educate their members to exercise caution on the road and prioritise human life over money.
