Claim Development for Kwaso; Otumfuo to Chief
Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has charged the newly enstooled chief of Kwaso in the Ejisu Municipal District of the Ashanti Region, Nana Osei Fosu Adutwum, to fight for the community’s share of the national cake in the quest to develop the area.
The chief who takes over from Nana Nketia Boampong II who was destooled in June 2023 received the wise counsel of the King when he requested to take the oath of allegiance on April 8, 2024
Otumfuo made known his expectations as he takes over the rulership of the community which had seen the last two of their traditional leaders destooled for either engaging in bribery or disregarding stool rites with the community reeling under retrogression.
“It is now your turn to lead. The first was a pastor who refused to perform the needed rites and the second was no good for the stool. Here you come and I only hope you will prove to be different from the two.”
His Majesty also directed him to leverage on the government officials designated to the community to ensure the needed development and progress are lobbied and undertaken.
“Be an honest and faithful servant to your community but most importantly, prioritise the development of the community. That said, I do not mean you should fund the developmental projects solely from your pocket but liaise with government officials to do so. Build a rapport with the DCE and if you have to go to Accra, to the seat of government to fight for infrastructures, do it.”
His Majesty was also of the view that his attitude towards funds management would determine his fate when it comes to his subjects supporting his developmental agendas.
“Money can’t buy the support of your people but honesty will. If you exhibit honesty and prove yourself worthy and trustworthy in the sight of your people, they will go out of their way to financially support every project you initiate. You will call and they will answer but if you do vice versa then rest assured that no one will support you when their money is needed.”
Additionally, he charged the traditional elders of Kwaso to stay relevant and usher in the new chief with the needed counsel and support.
“This is a new era and you should be able to counsel the chief. If you fail to do so then you are irrelevant. Be blank and bold with him when he is erring.”
