Hearts Recover Accra Sports Stadium For Home Games
The Accra Hearts of Oak will no longer have to use the WAFA Park at Sogakope for their home games in the second round of the Ghana Premier League (GPL).
This is because they have secured their original home grounds back after the 40,000-capacity stadium was closed to the Phobians and GPL clubs in December 2023.
In a communiqué, the club announced they had been permitted to use the stadium for their first game after the break.
Instead of the WAFA Park, they will host their game against Real Tamale United (RTU) at the Accra Sports Stadium, formerly known as the Ohene Djan Stadium.
“We have been granted permission to play our GPL match-day-18 game against RTU at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 25th February 2024.”
The club was forced into choosing the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for their home games after the National Sports Authority (NSA) communicated the venue’s “unavailability” for “sporting purposes” in December.
The turn of events impacted the already torrid spell of the Club in the first round of the 2023/2024 season. They ended the first round with 21 points after four wins, nine draws and four losses.
Hearts will be looking to amass the support they require at home after regaining the Accra Sports Stadium with fans looking forward to their productivity after securing the services of Aboubakar Ouattara as the new head coach and Mr Delali Anku-Adiamah as the Managing Director.
