NPP Goes To Poll Tomorrow
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is in a bid to elect a presidential aspirant for the upcoming 2024 General election.
Two hundred and eight thousand, two hundred and sixty-one (208,261) delegates across the country on that note will go to the polls to elect their choice on Saturday, November 4, 2023.
The delegates include 28 Ministers and Deputy Ministers, 30 Patrons and Council of elders, 50 Foundation members, 61 National Council members, 272 Regional Council members, 291 Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) members, 324 overseas members and 398 MPs and MMDCEs.
Also are 1,375 constituency patrons, 4, 675 constituency officers, 6,272 electoral area coordinators, and 193,110 polling station executives.
Four aspirants are racing for the single spot after sailing through the Super Delegates Conference held on August 26, 2023.
They include Mahamudu Bawumia, Ken Agyapong, Owusu Afriyie Akoto and Francis Addai Nimoh.
If the results of the Super Delegates conference are anything to go by, out of a total of 923 votes cast across all regions, Bawumia took the lead with 629 votes followed by Ken Agyapong with 132. Afriyie Akoto garnered 36 votes and Francis Addai-Nimoh had 9 votes.
Already, the NPP branch in the United States of America (USA) has endorsed Bawumia with its seven designated votes.
Meanwhile, the party has compelled the aspirants to sign an undertaking to stick to the party no matter the outcome of the election. This, the Party indicated, is aimed at fostering cohesion after the event.
