Kotoko Name Danlad Captain
Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum has appointed Ibrahim Danlad as captain of the Asante Kotoko Sporting Club team.
The goalkeeper takes over as captain following the transfer of midfielder Richard Boadu in July.
The announcement comes two days ahead of the Club’s season opener against Accra Lions at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
“Asante Kotoko is pleased to confirm the appointment of goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim as the new club’s captain,” the Club announced on Friday, September 15, 2023.
He will be assisted by Cameroonian, Georges Mfegue, and Richmond Lamptey as vice-captains.
Danlad told the Club’s website that the captaincy is a blessing and honour.
“I will say it’s a blessing, and I give thanks to the Almighty Allah, to our noble technical staff and head coach, Prosper Ogum, and our great supporters. I am very grateful for this, and I promise to serve wholeheartedly like I have always done since I joined [this club],” he told the website.
Danlad joined the Porcupines in August 2016 and is said to have made his league debut against Aduana Stars in 2021-2022.
His performance has earned him call-ups for international duties from both the Black Stars and Black Galaxies.
Former Kotoko captain Richard Boadu left Kotoko for Libyan Club Al Ahly during the recent transfer window.
