Aayalolo Buses Remain Parked in Kumasi Due to Lack of Patronage 

Hon. Kwaku Appiah, the Assembly Member for CPC Electoral Area and Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly Transport Convener, has revealed that the Aayalolo buses in Kumasi are currently parked and not in operation due to a lack of patronage from residents.

“They complain that Aayalolo buses make a lot of bus stops hence they don’t like it. We had one at Barekese but the residents were rather patronising trotro.”

In an interview with George Adjei on Nkwantanananso on July 17, Hon. Kwaku Appiah expressed concern over the buses’ underutilization, resulting in wasted fuel.

Although the primary purpose of introducing the Aayalolo buses was to alleviate traffic congestion within the Central Business District (CBD) of Kumasi, their operations within the CBD were suspended due to certain disadvantages associated with their use in that area.

Hon. Kwaku Appiah emphasized that the ban on the Aayalolo buses is specific to the Central Business District, and they are still permitted to operate in other areas of Kumasi.

To address the situation , a press meeting is scheduled to take place at the premises of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly on Thursday, July 20.

Opemsuo News Reporter,  visited the STC yard in Kumasi where the buses were parked, and he confirmed that indeed buses lay idle.

The buses, numbering over 50, were undergoing repairs and cleaning.

Some of the drivers explained that they were informed by management that operations will begin soon.
