Akufo-Addo Approves New JUSAG Salary Structure- Association Reveals
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has approved the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG)’s reviewed salary structure, the Association has communicated.
The implementation will take effect in July 2023.
In a press statement on July 17, JUSAG said it was informed by the Chief Justice, Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkonoo, about the President’s approval in a letter.
“We are reassured by the letter of Her Ladyship Honourable Chief Justice dated 13th July 2023 which confirms that His Excellency the President of Ghana has approved the new salary structure and implementation will be done in the month of July 2023 as indicated by the Ministry of Finance at the close of the engagement.”
It, therefore, commended the CJ for what it called a “good start”.
JUSAG Thanks CJ For reviewed Salaries
The JUSAG embarked on an industrial action in May 2023 demanding a review of their salaries in accordance with the constitution.
It stated that per the constitution, the salaries of staff of the judicial service have to be reviewed by the President, acting on the advice of the Judicial Council, and that by convention the said review is done every two years.
While declaring the strike, JUSAG said the President has failed to implement the recommendation by the Judicial Council on February 2023 for the salary review.
