4 Foreign Nationals Arrested For Human Trafficking In Ghana
The Ghana Police Service has in its grips four Nigerian nationals for trafficking Nigerians into Ghana to engage in cybercrime.
They were arrested after a swoop conducted in collaboration with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) in an unspecified location in Accra on May 2.
They have been identified as Godstine Omoruyi, Junior Nosa Omoruyi, Marvelous Omoruyi and Evbuomwan Idowu.
Their arrest followed intelligence that some Nigerians had been trafficked into the country.
“The said victims were lured into the country with the promise of securing them jobs but were subsequently forced to engage in cyber activities upon their arrival in the country,” the Office said in a statement.
According to EOCO, the victims were subjected to torture and abuse by the suspects.
Following their arrest 51 mobile phones, 70 laptop computers, two saloon cars, nine internet modem and other equipment were retrieved from their hideout.
The suspects have been arraigned before a court while the 45 victims have been repatriated to their home country.
